Graphics & Sound:
The Wii has proven itself to be the master of games that require you to move. The new We Ski & Snowboard is definitely holding true to that rule. You can put it in and play without any training.

As a general rule, I just don't expect the graphics on Wii games to be as pretty as graphics on the 360 or PS3. Having said this, I was quite pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the graphics are in We Ski & Snowboard. The characters do not try to be ultra-realistic. In fact, you can use your normal Mii or you can create an avatar on the fly that will look like Miis do. For this type of game, it's a very appropriate look. The photos that you can take in the game come out adorable, and you can even watch them in a slide show.

The default background noises are just that. You'll hear things you would expect on a ski slope. There's also some fun warning bell sounds when you've got danger headed your way. For background music, you have the option of a portable audio device. This makes it so you can customize what you listen to. I really liked this feature. This way, you always enjoy your background music!

Gameplay:
There are quite a few different ways that you can play We Ski & Snowboard, which means you can play for a long time alone or with friends and never get bored. The first thing you'll probably want to investigate is the School. Even though you can pretty much figure out the basics without it, I recommend you learn the advanced stuff too. In the School, you'll learn 14 different "basic" lessons that teach you how to control yourself on the skis. The great part is that if you choose to snowboard, you get even more completely different lessons. The School can only be played by one player at a time though, so you'll need to go there alone.

The rest of the modes can be played with up to four players on either skis or snowboards. Given the difference in the controls, it's like you have two different games in one. The Resort and the Mountain are where you'll probably spend most of your time. At the resort, you can choose individual courses to try. You can talk to people you see to find out things that are going on. You can participate in a variety of challenges, too. On the Mountain, you can ride all the slopes going from one to the next. It's quite fun to go to the very top of the 3,000 meter mountain and just jump off. If you're talented enough, you can even make your character do somersaults in mid-air. But if you get sick of flying helpless down the mountain, you will eventually land in the snow where you can continue on down the correct way.

As you're going through the game, you'll find a photographer in quite a few places. You can get your pictures taken as many times as you want. To view all these, go to the Album. You will be able to see all the players photos, not just your own here. In the Records, you'll find all the things that you picked up in your travels and all the records that you may have set.

Difficulty:
We Ski & Snowboard is an easy game to learn, but a difficult game to master. As I said before, you can pick up the controls, guess at how to play, and have a lot of fun. But if you really want to be able to master the courses and challenging slopes, you'll need to practice a lot! Given the number of slopes there are, and all the twists and turns and hidden jumps, it's going to end up taking a lot of time to master them all.

Of course, when you really want a challenge, try playing with 4 players in a competition. Even if you're not one of the ones playing, it's even fun to watch! You can even hold a party and have a competition to see who can win the most. Good luck winning against a lot of people. Of course, if you're the only one who knows all the tricks, it is a lot easier.

Game Mechanics:
We Ski & Snowboard is going to make you work your entire body to get all of the moves down. It can be played with a Wii-mote and Nunchuk together. You can also use a balance board if you have one. Now obviously, if you're playing on the balance board, you'll have to be standing. But to be able to do all the moves even with just the Wii-mote and Nunchuk, you'll probably have to be standing as well. Basically, you need to imitate real skiing as best you can. I've never personally been snowboarding, but I'm assuming that since they made skiing feel real then the snowboarding does to. Either way, they're both a lot of fun and some exercise too. I would highly recommend you go through the tutorials to get the hang of all the moves. The only one I found hard to get right was the crouching to go faster. You really have to be standing to get that one down!

We Ski & Snowboard is a really wonderfully fun game, and it's even family-friendly. You can spend hours playing this game with family and friends, and you can spend hours playing it by yourself. If you like any of the sports game or especially if you're looking for a family or party game, I recommend you go get this today. Even if you don't have a balance board, you'll have fun playing with just the Wii-mote and nunchuk. Go buy it today!
