Graphics & Sound:
I was completely impressed with the graphics of NFL Blitz 2000; that is until I realized that this was a PlayStation, not a Sega Genesis. They were that bad. It was impossible to see any detail. The players looked like a kaleidoscope of colors and the ball look like a brown mistake. The background graphics were actually pretty nice, but the graphics that counted, the football players, well, sucked. I really can't think of any other term. I don't know what Midway was thinking, but it wasn't about good graphics. I couldn't even tell what was going on on the field. Talk about lame. The sound wasn't bad though. The grunts and trash talking helps you hear what you can't see; however, there is absolutely no eye candy in this title.

Gameplay:
The game plays entirely too fast. I know what you're thinking; it's Blitz, it's supposed to be fast. I understand that, but when you have horrendous graphics, the faster it plays, the worse it is. I couldn't tell who had the ball, where my man was going, or even who was on my team. Okay, I exaggerate a bit, but it really is bad. I love football. I was born for football, but Blitz is no football. The game would be really fun, but you can't tell what's going on. Better graphics and a tiny bit slower game play would turn this into a good game.

There are plenty of things other than the actual game to keep you busy. There is a Play Editor that turned out to be pretty cool. There are three modes of play - Arcade, Tournament, and Season. There are also three levels of difficulty to choose from. There is even a place to enter your little codes to do cool stuff like have big heads or something like that. There are tons and tons of plays to choose from. One thing's for sure; you will never run out of plays. I also like the fact that it is compatible with four players. At least they have that going for them.

Difficulty:
The game is not difficult at all. Even though I could never tell exactly what was going on, I had no trouble winning every game. Even on hard, it was still too easy. It was easy to run, and even easier to tackle. The way the controls were laid out just facilitated the ease with which to beat every computer opponent. They should have made the A.I. a little more challenging.

Game Mechanics:
The default control layout is really nice (of course, you can customize it yourself). I thought the game mechanics just made sense. I also liked to vibration effect. One time, the controller almost jumped out of my hand (and I didn't even know I had the ball). The game does take 13 blocks of memory to save a season, but you'll get bored before then. Blitz is a good game for a few laughs (and I mean just for a few minutes) when the guys have nothing better to do. If you looking for a good football game, sorry, keep looking. After all, this is Blitz.
