Although I tend to rally against the idea of recreating characters and celebrities in games (I question why, when given creative freedom we re-create what's already there), I have to admit to owning a Obama look-a-like character. Maybe it is the reason behind re-creating the familiar, but I got a kick out of seeing my Obama roll through the Row in a purple camouflage SWAT tank. However, getting the Obama look-a-like wasn't easy and required taking notes on numerous customization values, which was an absolute pain.
That pain will go away with Saints Row: The Third. This morning on the official Saints Row blog, developer Volition announced the Initiation Station. The Station takes the game's already deep customization options and adds a social component. With the Initiation Station, players will be able to create their own character in-game then upload it, so other players will be able to download it to their game. Its a small item, but it you have ever spent hours trying to re-create characters from an online database, it is a huge deal.
Access to the Initiation Station is free across all platforms. However, THQ is offering early access (one week before everyone else) to players who also pre-order Red Faction: Armageddon.
We'll have more coverage on Saints Row: The Third next month at E3.
