Michael Jackson: The Experience Coming This Holiday
Product: Michael Jackson: The Experience
As the title suggests, Michael Jackson: The Experience is a celebration of the late King of Pop in game form. Ubisoft intends for this to be a physical game that encourages players to emulate both Jackson's iconic dance moves and his almost incomparable singing voice. Better start working on your Moonwalks, heel grooves, "Hee"s, and "Hoo"s. Anti-gravity leans, crotch grabs, and superpowers that turn hostile aliens into dancers... have yet to be confirmed or denied.

Thus far, the confirmed tracks for Michael Jackson: The Experience include:
  • Bad
  • Beat It
  • Billie Jean
  • Earth Song
  • The Girl Is Mine
  • Who Is It
  • Workin' Day And Night

The announcement of these tracks came just in time for Germany's Gamescom, where players were able to get their hands on the Wii version. Judging by this and the nature of the game, the Wii audience looks like Ubisoft's primary focus group for Michael Jackson: The Experience. Not to mention the fact that the Wii version is a collaboration between Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Paris, the studio behind Just Dance.

However, none of this means that the next-gen versions won't be getting any love. The Xbox 360 version will be a Kinect title developed by Ubisoft Montréal. Player Projection technology (as Ubisoft terms it) projects the player on-screen into the game itself, allowing them to see their actual moves and steps reproduced in the game. Naturally, the PS3 version will be a Move title.

The game's title, primarily the "Experience" part, seems to come from the all-encompassing nature of the game itself; players will be surrounded by environments inspired by music videos and live performances. Furthermore, special effects will trigger intermittently throughout each performance. Does this mean rookie dancers will be able to spin themselves into gold dust? We sure hope so.

Michael Jackson: The Experience will launch this holiday as a multiplatform title -- and that includes both major handhelds. Check back for more updates as the release date approaches.
