Shank Concept Art / E3 Video Footage
Company: EA Games
Product: Shank
EA and Klei Entertainment's Shank was one of the first games I got my hands on at this year's E3, and it turned out to be one of the games that stuck with me long after I bitterly let go of the controller. The bloody hack-and-slash goodness and the in-your-face comic book art style are a match made in heaven, and now that the game is finally on our collective virtual doorsteps, the developers have decided to tease us with some really sweet concept art from co-creator and creative director, Jeff Agala.

Shank is a stylishly-presented tale of gangland betrayal. As the awesomely-named titular hero, gamers will go on a quest (read: rampage of violent and bloody murder) to uncover the secrets behind Shank's past and exact painful retribution on those responsible for his suffering. After playing the E3 demo, I can only imagine how satisfying the violence will be once the story sprinkles a little catharsis into the mix.

Each staff member who attended E3 this year had at least one moment of glory. These moments include but are not limited to: the conquering of a mechanical bull, a chance meeting with a celebrity, and the exclusive video interview Starscream and I had with Junction Point's Warren Spector. But there was another lesser-known triumph on my part. Shortly before I started playing Shank, a friendly stranger came up to the booth and asked if he could shoot some footage of me playing the game. A week or two later, the video surfaced on YouTube. If you're interested in seeing this game in action, check it out -- it encompasses nearly the entirety of the E3 floor demo. The man on the sticks would like to thank Derrick Smith of Playstation ThEvolution for allowing the use of his footage.

Interested yet? Of course you are. Shank will cut its way to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade on August 24 and 25, respectively. Check the links below for more extensive coverage, and check back in the following weeks for a full review.
