GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition Announced
Company: Activision
Product: GoldenEye 007
Activision's announcement of a GoldenEye 007 remake has fans everywhere buzzing with anticipation. Though its age certainly shows, Rare's Nintendo 64 classic is often cited as one of the key turning points in the evolution of the console shooter. However, it's all but a certainty that there will be a demographic unwilling to use the Wii-mote and Nunchuk. Well, this bit of news is sure to excite both them and hardcore Bond fans: Activision has announced a Classic Edition for GoldenEye 007, and it will address the needs of both groups.

So what's to be included in GoldenEye 007's Classic Edition? A Classic Controller Pro, much like the one bundled with the Special Edition of Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri. However, there's a major Bond-related difference here. The Classic Controller Pro is... wait for it... golden. Just like the legendary (and broken) multiplayer weapon! Don't expect the controller to give you the ability to perform one-shot kills, though.

Developed by Eurocom, GoldenEye 007 lets players relive what is arguably among the best of the Bond films, only replacing Pierce Brosnan with current Bond, Daniel Craig. The game promises to bring the glory back to four-player split-screen multiplayer; they will back that promise up with forty characters, eight classic Bond characters, ten maps, three modes and eighteen modifiers that allow gamers to create hundreds of possible game combinations. The online multiplayer, which will support up to eight players, includes a persistance and ranking system, a must in this FPS generation.

GoldenEye 007 is expected to infiltrate North American retailers this November. Check back for our review when the game drops.
