NBA Elite 11 to Include NBA Jam... Sort Of |
| |
Originally, NBA Jam was announced as a Wii-exclusive title. However, EA has two-upped their original plans with a pair of announcements that is sure to have some next-gen-owning basketball enthusiasts cheering. However, the fine print is all but guaranteed to generate some negative buzz.

In a sense, NBA Jam is no longer a Wii-exclusive. Longtime fans aching to see this classic arcade franchise resurrected in glorious high definition will see their wish come true after all. However, there is a huge catch -- especially for those who have no interest in EA's upcoming basketball sim NBA Elite 11.

If you want to play NBA Jam and don't own a Wii, the only way for you to get your old school fix is to buy a new copy of NBA Elite 11. Each brand new copy of the game will include a one-time download code that unlocks three modes of NBA Jam. From the get-go, players will be able to access Play Now, Classic Campaign and Online. These three modes are all that is being offered for next-gen consoles, but as long as awareness is high, it could go a long way in discouraging used sales of NBA Elite 11.

The developers are insisting that the Wii version of NBA Jam is the "complete" one. However, we'll have to wait and see exactly what next-gen gamers will be missing when both games are on store shelves. Check back in October for full reviews of NBA Elite 11 and NBA Jam.
