Guitar Hero Rocks August With Big Store Update
Company: Activision
Product: Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is the new Guitar Hero game this September, but that doesn't mean the Guitar Hero Online Store is dead. All throughout August, Activision is rocking new tracks for the digital store so gamers can build their song libraries before the next big step in Guitar Hero mythos hits stores on September 28. The setlist for August includes heavy metal acts as well as punk and alternative bands including Megadeth, P.O.D., Sum 41, Weezer, and The Used.

Each band will get their very own song pack which includes three songs each and each song is compatible with Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and Warriors of Rock. The full release window looks like this:

  • August 3 - The Used kicks off the first week with "The Taste of Ink","The Bird and the Worm", and "Pretty Handsome Awkward"
  • August 10 - Sum 41 leads week 2 with "In Too Deep", "Fat Lip", and "Still Waiting"
  • August 17 - Weezer songs "Island in the Sun", "Beverly Hills", and "Pork and Beans" will be available
  • August 24 - Megadeth takes over with metal melodies "Symphony of Destruction", "Hangar 18", and "Peace Sells"
  • August 31 - P.O.D. gets their own track pack for the last week with "Southtown", "Youth of the Nation", and "Boom"

Many of the songs may already be familiar to long-time Guitar Hero veterans. But this is the first time all of these songs are made available with full-instrument support and cross-compatibility for the Band Hero or Guitar Hero franchises. All of the songs will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii. The three song packs will be priced at $5.50 (440 Microsoft Points or 550 Nintendo Points) or available individually for $1.99 (160 MS Points or 200 Wii Points.)
