DC Universe Online Nets All-Star Voice Cast
Company: Sony Online Entertainment
Product: DC Universe Online
DC Universe Online is sitting pretty at the top of most comic fans' "Most Wanted" lists. Announcements like these can lead one to believe that Sony Online Entertainment isn't trying to make the wait any easier. It's been confirmed that DC Universe Online will feature a high-profile ensemble of voice actors; the list is full of fan favorites and ideal matches. If you're a fan of Joss Whedon's body of work, you're already familiar with most of the actors by default.

What's bound to receive the most buzz is the fact that legendary Batman veterans Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will be reprising their longtime roles as Joker and Batman. This should prove beneficial to the game's authenticity factor; the duo has given voice to what is arguably the greatest superhero/supervillain combination in comic book history, from Batman: The Animated Series to last year's hugely successful Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Hamill and Conroy's names may resonate with fans of the subject matter above everything else, but there are several other notable performers who are lending their considerable talents to DC Universe Online. Suffice to say, DC fans should be thrilled.

Adam Baldwin (Animal Mother from Full Metal Jacket) is no stranger to science-fiction or voicework in games; if you only recognize him as "the guy who shot the Coke can off the spaceship in Independence Day," you haven't been keeping up. However, if you're into sci-fi television, he needs no introduction; he's had major roles in Firefly / Serenity and Chuck. Most recently, Baldwin portrayed the gruff Kal'Reegar of the Quarian Migrant Fleet Marines in Mass Effect 2. His role? The one and only Superman.

For every Superman, there must be a Lex Luthor. In the case of DC Universe Online, they've settled for an ironic choice. James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike and most ironically Smallville's Brainiac) will portray the bald kryptonite-wielding megalomaniac.

Sony Online Entertainment announced two other voice actors for DC Universe Online; these women will play the parts of Wonder Woman and her nemesis, Circe.

The role of Wonder Woman will be science-fiction/fantasy veteran Gina Torres. Torres has starred as Firefly's Zoƫ Washburne; she also has DC experience, having voiced both Superwoman and Vixen. Her other notable film credits include the second and third Matrix films, I Think I Love My Wife, and Hair Show.

Finally, Michelle Forbes, who brought Battlestar Galactica's Admiral Helena Cain to life, takes on the role of Circe. Forbes starred in the hit HBO series In Treatment; True Blood fans will recognize her as the wealthy Maryann.

DC Universe Online is scheduled to ship on November 2 for PlayStation 3 and PC.
