2010's not-too-far-off holiday season is host to a killer lineup of fantastic-looking titles, not the least of which is Platinum's Vanquish. The high-octane third person shooter made serious waves at this year's E3, and Sega has no intention of calming the hype maelstrom. They have announced a special reservation premium for customers who pre-order the hotly-anticipated title at GameStop.
The reservation bonus in question is the Tri-Weapon Pack, and it will be distributed via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. GameStop customers who pre-order a copy of Vanquish will receive a free code for the Tri-Weapon Pack. As the name of the premium implies, this edge is very ordinance-based. It will give protagonist Sam Gideon access to three weapons: the Boost Machine Gun, the Anti-Armor Pistol, and the Laser Cannon.
All three of the guns in this pack are considered to be prototypes in experimental weapon design. The Boost Machine Gun is basically a mobile machine turret that is both extremely powerful and quick to fire. The Anti-Armor Pistol's functions are given away by the gun's name, but Sam will find it useful in taking down stronger enemies. Finally, the Laser Cannon is a space warship laser that has been scaled down for human use. It is the most powerful infantry-based weapon ever developed.

Considering the pedigree of the developers, Vanquish should be on the radar of every action gamer who owns a next-gen console. It might not have been on our radars for very long, but we're already relatively close to the game's recently-announced street date. October 19 should be a red-letter day for shooter fans and action gamers. Check out our E3 2010 coverage of Vanquish, and be sure to stay tuned. We'll keep the info coming.
