It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No! It’s H.A.W.X. 2!
Product: H.A.W.X. 2
Who didn't see this coming? Ubisoft announced today that their tactical aerial simulator H.A.W.X. will receive its sequel, H.A.W.X. 2 this Fall for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Nintendo Wii.

Although I am a little disappointed it isn't called H.A.W.X.X. (an extra "X" for each sequel), this still sounds very interesting to me. The last H.A.W.X. game was very clever in the way it bridged the different Tom Clancy franchises together like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon and still felt like its own thing.

H.A.W.X. 2 promises to include new prototype technology like F-35 vectored thrust capability and the Enhanced Reality System which enhance the simulation controls that were available in the original H.A.W.X. if you wanted to use it. New graphical enhancements like GeoEye satellite imaging and impressive new destructible airplane models make the action look as real as it gets.

What really has me interested are some of the new levels. After taking off a carrier at sea, players will guide their million dollar death machine through a tense night-time precision bombing run or use silent UAV's to strike targets from above. The idea of flying a stealth bomber has me giddy (as numerous toy models can attest) and I really hope this turns out well.

H.A.W.X. 2 is scheduled to fly in Fall 2010.
