About every decade or so, a new Superman series comes around. Currently it is Smallville, in the past it's been the 1950's series staring George Reeves, or the movies that spanned the 70's and 80's, but the one I have liked the most would be the series that spanned four years in the mid-90's, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and it's started coming out on DVD. Season 1 contains the 21 episodes that introduced Clark to Metropolis and the big city to Superman.

The New Adventures of Superman: Season 1 starts off with the series' two hour pilot where Clark Kent (Dean Cain), a small-town Kansas boy, moves to Metropolis to work for The Daily Planet, but what no one realizes is that... what am I doing, we all know the story of Superman. Its a classic thats been told many times in many different ways since DC Comics first created The Man of Steel.

Teri Hatcher (James Bond: Tomorrow Never Dies, Desperate Housewives) takes on the role of hot-shot, all-business reporter Lois Lane and Lane Smith plays the Planet's Editor-n-Chief, Perry White. Actors from the first season who either didn't reprise their roles afterwords or the characters disappeared include Justin Whalin as Jimmy Olsen and Tracy Scoggins (later seen in the Sci-Fi series Babylon 5: Season 5 and its spin-off Crusade) as the paper's Social Editor, Catherine "Cat" Grant.

This season-long boxed set builds up the romantic two-person love triangle between Superman, Lois Lane and Clark Kent, as well as the "fall" of Lex Luthor (John Shea from the Mutant-X TV-series).

As far as extras are concerned, there are commentaries and documentaries and even some interviews that will keep you occupied for quite some time even after you've watched the season finale. Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Season 1 is a great buy for any fan of the series.
