Game Commander 2
Score: 100%
Developer: Sontage Interactive

Function:

Tired of scrambling to hit those aggrivating keyboard commands for your favorite game when you're in a jam? How would you like to free up your hands a bit? With the Game Commander 2, you can literally talk your way out of sticky situations. That way, you can keep your eyes on the screen and you hands on your gamepad/controller/mouse.

Performance:

GameCommander 2 technically is software, but it's what it allows your microphone to do that is so amazing. With Game Commander 2, you can make a 'game profile' for any game (or program, for that matter) that you like. Then, when you simply speak the commands, Game Commander 2 will simulate the typing of whatever keystrokes you have assigned the command. Mind you - that can be a LONG series of keystrokes if you like... and you can even adjust settings on the rate of pressing and releasing of the keys!

If you've tried voice recognition before and you were disappointed, then you're in for a pleasant surprise. Game Commander 2 does an excellent job of recognizing commands just by the command words. However, if you find that it's not recognizing a command, you can use the 'train' feature. You say the word three times, and Game Commander 2 remembers how you sound saying the word. The results? Excellence.

Another note for those of you who like the idea of voice recognition; Game Commander 2 is not just for games. You can use it with basically any program that needs keyboard input. You can enter new commands to be used with all programs or specific commands for use only with certain programs. You can also share these command sets at the Game Commander site. I've seen command sets for use with Internet Explorer, the desktop... even voice commands to control Game Commander 2 itself!

Drawbacks & Problems::

You'll want to have a good microphone, and you'll need to train some words, but Game Commander 2 does what it does beautifully. After defining a few commands, you'll be commanding your computer like something straight out of science fiction...
