Players: 1 - 4

Graphics & Sound:

Diablo who??? Revenant offers gorgeously designed backgrounds and maps, great character designs and customizability, and a great plot with many interactive characters. You can literally mix and match all aspects of your character’s weapons and armor. At one point, my character had on dragon-scale armor, a Vikings loin cloth and helmet and gold boots. Not a pretty sight, but he could whip the snot out of any of you online gamers.

An invigorating score really gets you into the battles, and the individual death sequences and voices of the different species of characters in the game were tweaked to greatness.

Gameplay:

Who’d a thunk it folks? A PC Diablo-style RPG that can use a control pad or joystick instead of just the point and click of the games of old. Revenant brings forth a new level of control by allowing you to control a plethora of attacks and defenses. And not to fear, for those who just prefer to use your mouse, the old point-and-click form of attack is still available. The character is extremely responsive to commands and the game flows well. My only gripe is that there is some load that can occur in the midst of battle if you walk beyond the map in which you begin your battle on. This can become slightly annoying when you are in the middle of laying the smack down on a couple of imps.

Difficulty:

Like most RPGs, Revenant has the usual reversed difficulty schematic. When you start off, you are gonna do a large quantity of high-tailing it away from the more powerful characters, and writing them a rain check on a beat down. Then, as you progress and level up, you may go back and redeem that rain check on a few dragons. A nice additive to Revenant is the level system in which you can set certain attributes to rise as you move up in level. Die hard RPG fans may be annoyed with how linear the game is, but I believe if a plot is good enough, being linear can be a good thing.

Game Mechanics:

There is no overall with this game. If you are reading this review, you have wasted far too much time as it is. Hurry and go buy this game before I get soooo powerful that none of you will ever have a chance at defeating my eclectically dressed undead warrior. All jokes aside, Revenant gets my vote for “RPG Game of the Year. So two thumbs up and possibly a toe (if I am coordinated enough to make it separate from the rest of my piglets).
