Let me start off by saying that I am not a huge skating fan. That being said, I loved this game. So, why not a 10? Doesn't it have ten different pro skaters to choose from? Yes, and they all have complete stats and attributes. Don't you get to customize each board? Yes, to a degree. What about tricks? There are over 100 tricks you can perform. Doesn't it run good? It runs unbelievably well. So what's the problem? Answer: courses. There are only nine courses. Nine is not bad, but it is kind of deceiving. You start with one and only one to chose from. After you beat that one (in Career mode only), you can unlock the next. After you unlock all nine (or so) it's over.
That aside, you can choose from 4 modes: Career mode, Single Session, Two Player, and Free Skate. In Career mode, your purpose is to collect your best tricks onto videotape. As you obtain the proper goals, you unlock other courses, equipment, and competition. In Single Session, you skate for a few minutes, trying to run the score up as high as possible. This was fun, but no real point to it - you can't unlock courses this way. Free Skate is the same as Single Session, just with no time limit. This makes for a good practice mode. In Two-Player mode, you can choose Trick Attack, HORSE, or Graffiti. In Graffiti, you try to paint as many objects as you can while (and by) doing the tricks. HORSE is a simple one-on-one best trick contest. In Trick Attack, you have 2 minutes to get the best score.
