Scooby Doo And The Mystery of the Fun Park Phantom
Graphics & Sound:
Scooby Doo where are you? He's at the fun park and he has a mystery to solve. This game takes you back to when you were a kid watching Saturday morning cartoons, but now you get to participate in the mystery and help Fred, Daphne, Thelma, Shaggy and Scooby to solve the mystery. The graphics are a combination of 3D backgrounds which are highly detailed, but very stagnant. The main characters, plus the group of suspects are drawn in 2D to give them a cartoon feel. The sound track combines music, effects, and the voices of most of the original cast series for a nice nostalgic trip down memory lane while playing the game.

Gameplay:
First off, you must choose which of the main characters you want to play, if you are going to let the computer play any of the main characters, or are you going to let your next door neighbor play over a network. You can't play Scooby unfortunately, but he comes along to give you a hand if you get stuck. Of course, this help will cost you a Scooby Snack which you can find along the way. If you don't give him a Scooby Snack every once in a while, he'll go help someone else. To be dissed by a dog is a depressing thing. You search the park's nine areas, collecting clues, Scooby Snacks, and talking to the suspects until you have gathered enough evidence to bring the culprit to justice. Beware! The phantom is lurking about and if you meet up with him, you might have to solve a puzzle to keep him from getting away from you.

Difficulty:
Some of the aspects of collecting clues and trying to figure out which clue is connected to what suspect can be difficult for our younger viewers. My young co-reviewer Julia needed a little help with the gameplay, but after she got used to it, she was able to solve the mystery of the Fun Park Phantom. Way to go Julia!

Game Mechanics:
For kids, this game might be a little too slowly paced. Julia found it a little boring after a while and hard to figure out. For us older folks, the game might start gathering dust after the mystery is solved. A good game to try to figure out, but it's not a game that will be played over and over.
