Nascar Heat

Score: 90%
ESRB: Everyone
Publisher: Microprose
Developer: Microprose
Media: CD/1
Players: 1
Genre: Racing

Graphics & Sound:

For the Nascar racing fan, Nascar Heat should look very familiar because you will be racing on very realistic representations of the official tracks from the 2000 Nascar season. You will have a wide range of views to choose from like cockpit view, first person and many other TV and gaming style views. With the addition of crowd cheering, announcers, and crash sounds you will feel transported into an actual race!!

Gameplay:

Nascar Heat is one of the most realistic racing simulation games out on the market today, giving you a gaming experience that is as close to real as you can get without buying one of the highly priced cars and entering a real race. Remember, Nascar Heat is a simulation game, so it is going to make it look and feel like a real race. If you are a racing adventure game fan where you like cars with guns sticking out the top and bazookas for headlights, there are many other titles to choose from. Nascar Heat is for those gamers that want to experience the exhilaration and the speed of an actual race. The official web site at

Difficulty:

There are two basic levels of difficulty with Nascar Heat, Normal and Expert. I am usually a normal type of a person, so the Normal setting is challenging enough for me. Microprose has included what is called Competitive Experience so that the skill level is adjusted to your racing and you will never feel left in the dust. But that doesn't mean that you don't have to work at it!

Game Mechanics:

Microprose has really done their homework with this game. As mentioned in the System Requirements, all Joysticks, Racing Wheels, and Game pads are supported, so don't worry if you have a supported device. I tested this game with a joystick, because I prefer the joystick experience and I am better at controlling the vehicle because I have been using joysticks for a long time. If you are a console game fan, you will probably prefer to use a gamepad or a racing wheel.
