BattleTanx

Score: 100%
ESRB: Teen
Publisher: 3DO
Developer: 3DO
Media: Cartridge/1
Players: 1 - 4
Genre: Action

Graphics & Sound:

Wow. The graphics for BattleTanx are a little on the plain side, maybe even blurry (like a first generation title), but considering the amount of action and explosions going on at one time, you will get no complaints out of me, unless you beat me with a Singapore cane. (Sorry, Extreme Championship Wrestling reference.) On the plus side, if you see it on the T.V. screen, you probably can blow it up. What more can you ask for? On the sound end, the music is a little on the lame side, but to be honest, with all the explosions and shooting, I don’t think an “In-game” player will notice.

Gameplay:

Umm, you’re in a tank, and you blow sh*t up, basically. :) If it moves, you kill it. If there is a building in the way of the opponent you are targeting, you can take out said building with little hassle, I assure you. It’s pretty simple and straightforward... in fact, it’s quite simple. Unless, of course, you are foolish enough to dabble in the madness that is multiplayer. Prepare to loose your sanity - BattleTanx multiplayer is the shizznet! You will never be the same again.

Difficulty:

The one player game for BattleTanx handles itself pretty well, but experienced gamers won’t be challenged - in the multiplayer game, however, the difficulty depends on the skill of your opponent.

Game Mechanics:

BattleTanx has a solid (if not tame) single player game - but in my book, the game truly shines in its multiplayer glory. If ever there was a reason to pick up a few extra Nintendo 64 controllers, this would be it. Call over some friends, have some beer or soda on ice, serve some food, and spend all night playing this killer game with your close friends. You won’t regret it. Highly recommended.
