R.C. Cars: R.C. Cars Rides On |
There have been numerous radio-controlled car games released throughout the years, but RC Cars promises to deliver a great new experience based on the game engine's great features. Instead of simply driving around in another racing environment, RC Cars has you driving your scale-sized cars in real-world environments. And, along each course, there are many obstacles in your way, including AI-driven characters that will try to kick or seize your car as you drive by.

Even though the vehicles in RC Cars are scaled down, the physics engine isn't. Developers boast that the physics in RC Cars is on par with true driving simulations, and I, for one, believe it. The playable version I received doesn't lose a step when driving, and all turns, crashes and jumps happen without thought (which is a good thing). The interactive environments also provide some enjoyment, because the track can change between laps. Sometimes there will be debris on the track, and other times a dog or a human just happens to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time, so you will have to react quickly to keep pace.

RC Cars is a single-player game that will offer either single races or a Championship mode of play. In the Championship, you will have to compete in each race with the intent of earning enough money to be able to race on the next track. While you can race the first one for free, each race after costs you a certain amount of money. If you're a little short, you'll have to drop back to a previous race to earn some dough.

This is a nice simple way of running the Championship mode, but I do hope that a little more is added into the final release as there just isn't that much to RC Cars at present. It's a fun little racer, and it's always a blast to be able to run remote-controlled vehicles around in any environment. We'll keep an eye out for this one in the near future.
