This is a repackage of
Rental Magica, originally released as a larger box set in 2009. There's nothing added to this new set. Actually it's more of a streamlining than anything. Basically the content remains the same, with the same number of discs and no new features. There's still no English dub, for example. The book in the original version with the history of magic around the world is gone as well.
This shouldn't be taken as all bad, of course. The original box was a bit bulky in order to fit that bulky book in. This new release is the size of a regular DVD case now, even with its 4 discs stuffed in. There's not much new in this slender repackage of Rental Magica, but then a streamlined design might be just what your shelf needs. It's also about ten dollars cheaper than the original release. The streamlined Part 2 is coming out soon as well, so you can pick up more than just the first 12 episodes after this set if you'd like. If you've been waiting to pick it up, now is a good time.
