As with other games in the series,
Resistance: Burning Skies brings players into the alternate reality version of Earth overrun by an invading force of aliens called the Chimera. Taking place between
Resistance: Fall of Man and
Resistance 2,
Resistance: Burning Skies focuses on fireman Tom Riley, who is searching for his family along the East Coast of 1950's America after the alien invasion.
The single-player campaign will be joined by a "complete" multiplayer mode featuring 8-player competitive game modes set in six different maps. Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch are included, as well as Survival, a last man standing match type. Multiplayer characters are fully customizable and feature full progression-based gameplay. Maps also scale to match the number of players, ranging from 2x2 to 4x4.
Resistance: Burning Skies supports global leaderboards, in-game voice chat using the Vita's built-in microphone, and location-based "near" app support. Using the app, players can "infect" nearby players with in-game gifts offering XP multipliers in multiplayer.
Resistance: Burning Skies is currently available for the PS Vita either as in-store purchase or through download on the PlayStation Store.
