Bakugan Battle Brawler: Defenders of the Core will be the title of the new entry in the Bakugan series of videogames. After the runaway success of last year's title, Activision is wasting no time capitalizing on the franchise's huge popularity right now. Spin Master's, the toy company responsible for the phenomenon, are partnering with Activision to deliver something to fans they have never experienced before in a Bakugan game: full control of their monsters.

Activision says fan feedback was overwhelming about asking for direct control, and they promise to deliver. This time around, Bakugan Battle Brawlers: Defenders of the Core will be a real-time 3D action title instead of the turn-based rules from last year. The publisher promises massive environments to accommodate the six-story-high creatures, as well being able to create unique heroes to battle Spectra and his Vexos minions.

From the looks of things, this game will be much more focused on action-RPG gameplay than the menu-driven board game we received last Fall. Gamers will be able to explore dungeons and new areas on foot with their friends via split-screen multiplayer and linked play for the handhelds, while unlocking new abilities and customization options for their Bakugan. This will also mark the first time that players can compete head-to-head in duels, free for all, and "strategic destruction battles."

If you roll with Bakugan (and not the washed-up Beyblade,) you can expect to control your own adventure and monsters this Fall. We expect to hear more about Bakugan Battle Brawlers: Defenders of the Core next week at E3.
