The intellectuality of the duo sons is bounced realistically off the down-home common sense of father and ex-cop Martin. Daphne's sense of British flair lends flavor, while Roz and Marty's candor often reveals the selfish motives of the Crane boys. Frasier provides enough humor that we can laugh at them rather than at ourselves. This award-winning series showcases the highest caliber comedy and acting and provide hours of delightful entertainment.
Frasier: The Tenth Season introduces caustic and confrontational Julia Wilcox (Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives) as KACL's financial analyst. As Frasier and Julia verbally battle for power, tempers fly and the excitement is too much for the dear doctor. After inquiringly suggesting to Julia that he is sexually aroused, he is publicly humiliated by KACL's ensuing compulsory sexual harassment lectures for the entire staff.
I have three favorite episodes in Frasier: The Tenth Season: "Daphne Does Dinner," "Door-Jam," and "Father and Sons." "Daphne Does Dinner" is hysterically funny as Niles and Daphne attempt to hold a posh party to unveil their latest art purchase which has a little added artwork created by Roz's daughter, Alice (Ashley Thomas). In the theatrical style of Noises Off, mayhem evolves and dramatically climaxes with the massive chandelier cascading amongst the elite dinner guests. "Door-Jam" is full of surprises as the Crane brothers deceptively gain access to an elitist day spa which provides services to their clientele by levels. Niles and Frasier, after discovering they are not on the exclusive guest list, maniacally wind their way through to the platinum door which holds an enlightened conclusion. "Father and Sons" will pull on your heart strings as Marty struggles with an unexpected visit from his deceased wife's colleague. The comparison to the boys and the guest raises questions of paternity in Marty's mind.
The packaging of Frasier: The Tenth Season suggests that some of the content has been edited. However, it does not describe in what manner. To purists, this may contaminate the integrity of the series, but I didn't notice a difference. Frasier is top-notch comedy in my opinion and I weep at the thought that there will be no more new creative episodes coming from this brilliant series.
