The Chipmunks have been around for many years now, since I was a kid at least. Over the years, many things have changed in the world, but the Chipmunks have remained pretty much the same. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore still have the same personalities and still prefer the same clothes. The Chipettes still haven't changed either. Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor are still the same girls wearing the same colors. As is typical, the groups will endure a lot of trials in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked thanks to Alvin's mischief, but they always manage to have fun!

To start off the movie, Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler), Theodore (Jesse McCartney), Brittany (Christina Applegate), Jeanette (Anna Faris), and Eleanor (Amy Poehler) have been invited to sing at the music awards. To get them there, Dave (Jason Lee) takes them on a Carnival Cruise. For any of you who have ever been on a cruise ship, you know how many different ways there are for kids to get into trouble, and I think Alvin manages to find every single one of them. This earns him being grounded by the Captain of the ship - if they get in any more trouble, they will be booted off of the ship. To enforce this, Ian (David Cross) rears his ugly head. He has a job as the pelican mascot of the ship and Ian takes it upon himself to make sure that if the Chipmunks do anything wrong, he will report them, just to get back at them. Simon convinces Dave to allow Alvin just a bit of room, so Dave tells them they can choose a movie to watch while he is at dinner trying to smooth things over with the Captain. After he leaves, Alvin decides to head to the casino and the girls go to the night club, leaving Theodore alone in the room watching a horror movie Alvin put on. Simon has to clean up the mess that Alvin has left. While he's doing that, the girls get into a dance off, which is quite a fun scene. Ian gets wind of all of this, so the next day he sticks close to them. This means that when Alvin leads all the Chipmunks overboard on a kite taking Dave in a beach chair with them, Ian is right there to go overboard as well!

They all land on a deserted island, in two groups. The Chipmunks are all still together and Dave and Ian are together. Neither group knows for sure that the other has made it to the island, but they hope so. Naturally, Simon takes charge of the Chipmunk group. He wants them to build a shelter and make sure they can survive until Dave finds them, but Alvin wants to goof off instead. While they're running around the island, they run into another living person, Zoe (Jenny Slate). She's been stuck there 8 or 9 years, talking to inanimate (maybe) objects, but she's got a neat zipline system and tree house. She's a bit off her rocker, but Alvin loves her sense of fun. Not too long after they meet her, Simon gets spider bit, which causes some "personality changes." He turns into Simone (Alan Tudyk). Simone is a carefree person, which leaves Alvin stuck in Simon's normal role, or even worse, Dave's role! This is actually very good for Alvin to have to experience, though. While they're all roaming the island, Dave is trying to find the Chipmunks while dealing with Ian's whining. Ian is still stuck in the pelican suit, because he's not wearing anything underneath. Finding the Chipmunks and getting off of the island safely is going to be a real task!

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked is obviously meant for a younger audience, but that doesn't mean that adults won't enjoy it as well. The hijinks are highly amusing and I found myself laughing continually. I loved the Chipmunk's animation. They looked so real and the Chipettes' clothing was always beautiful! The animation of the wet fur when they're dancing in the rain looks so amazing, especially on the Blu-ray. Watching Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked on Blu-ray is definitely the way to go! The music is wonderfully entertaining as well. They did a great job of changing current songs to fit the Chipmunks, like using Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" and changing it to "Whip My Tail." The best part is that you can watch all of these videos in the Special Features and choose which one(s) you want to see (and even dance to) without having to skip through the movie. That's just one of the many features that will keep you and your kids entertained for hours on end. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked is the best family-friendly movie that I have seen in a long time. If you're looking for something to make you laugh and keep a smile on your face as well, pick up Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked today!
