Christina doesn't recover very well. You'd think performing heart surgery on Derek would just have inspired her, but months later, she's still not recovered from the trauma. Can you imagine seeing Christina as a bartender? You'd think as much as she drinks that she'd be a lot better at it than she is. Something has to happen to make her go back into medicine and quickly. After last season's trauma, the hospital is working on teaching the staff to deal with trauma better than they have, but that's just not an easy thing to teach as it requires hand-on training to really test people and you hope that there aren't going to be traumas like that ever. Of course, on Grey's, there's always a mass casualty to get a true doctor's blood pumping! Jackson is having some issues getting his head back in the game as well. He's just not up to par and seems to be messing things up. Dr. Altman (Kim Raver) really goes to an amazing measure to try and save a patient, more than I think any doctor has ever gone to before. Will it backfire on her, though?
All that just catches us up on a portion of the cast! Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) plan to head to Africa together for 3 years, but things don't always work like you think. I really like Callie and she's been through more than just about anyone with regards to relationships, so hopefully things will work out for her! With Arizona gone, the hospital has to hire a new pediatrics attending. The new pediatrics attending is an ass, but I do love the actor (Peter McNichol). It's interesting to see him play this role because I'm used to him as nice Larry on Numb3rs! When Arizona comes back, she's stuck working for him and they're just very different attitudes! Of course, Callie drops a bombshell on everyone when she announces that she's pregnant with Mark's (Eric Dane) kid. This news is really going to complicate all of their lives. I find the trio hilarious and poor Callie is getting outvoted on what she can do with her life. Of course, we all know Callie and she's not going to tolerate being told what to do for long. Also how is Mark even going to explain this news to Lexie as he's just gotten her back!
After everything is calmed down, or at least as calm as Grey's gets, all the residents are vying for chief resident. They're doing their best to prove they have what it takes so they are trying to get on clinical trials and anything else they can. Meredith is upset that Derek doesn't choose her for his clinical trial on the Alzheimer's patients. I can understand why he doesn't though, as it won't be easy on Meredith to watch early onset Alzheimer's patients and he doesn't want to make her go through that, but she doesn't understand that! Of course in the end, it takes someone like Meredith to work with these patients and Alex (Justin Chambers) leaves the trial and she takes over. Alex comes up with an amazing project based on an idea from Arizona that really helps some patients that wouldn't have gotten the care otherwise. The person who is chosen as chief resident does come as a bit of a shock to me though!
The end of the season leaves one of my favorite characters fighting for their life in an episode that shows us that some of our Grey's cast can really sing! I love Owen's voice. He could be a really good rock band frontman if he decides to give up acting. Grey's Anatomy seems to always end the season on some kind of mass casualty and some kind of big surprise and this season is no exception.
The DVD set also has several special features to add to your Grey's Anatomy entertainment. "The Music Event: Behind the Scenes" was a lot of fun for me as I really enjoyed that music episode. The "Unaired Scenes" and the "Bloopers" were great as well. I really liked all of the special features and any extra Grey's knowledge that I can get! I have loved Grey's Anatomy ever since I first saw it. I've said before that Grey's like to alternate with some seasons more dark and some more light, but I think this is the first season that I've felt was a true mixture of both. You should definitely pick up Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Seventh Season today as Grey's Anatomy is one of the best dramas on television today!
