Season Two didn't end on any major cliffhanger to be revealed, so there isn't even a recap of Season Two at the beginning of Season Three, but Season Three does start off with a special 2-part episode, "The Prophecies." I say special because Ryan leaves the cast at the end of it. I really think this was a bad move for the series, but I do like the way that he left. The series just isn't the same without him around. Of course, Johnny (Steve Monarque) has pretty much joined the crew by this time, but he's just not a good replacement for Ryan. There are still a lot of people that die in this show, usually more than one per episode. I always wonder how they're not questioned by the cops more often, since it seems like there's a trail of bodies wherever this team goes. I guess they're just quite lucky that the cops don't question the mysterious things too much.
Some of the objects that the guys have to find this time are a wheelchair that can heal you, at a cost. I really have to question if the cost was too much, though. Personally, I think the bad guys deserved it, but that's a theme that runs throughout the season - is there ever a good time to use a cursed object. Johnny, in particular, is going to struggle with that concept, using more than one cursed object throughout the season. I guess it's difficult being the new guy to all this supernatural stuff.
There are quite a few more things that they're going to have to deal with, including the return of a cursed object from Season One that Micki especially hoped never to have to see again! There's also a clan episode that really made me remember how different things were in the past and another vampire episode since we haven't had one of those in a while. I think that the crew now gets possessed or cursed more than the people they help. I swear I don't know how they continue, and sometimes neither do they! Of course, there's also going to be family members that come back this season. Both Johnny's dad and Jack's dad come to visit, as well as Ryan's mom in the first episode.
Really I hated to see this show end so quickly, but then I can see why it did. The final season just isn't as exciting as the previous two. But that doesn't mean it's not good. I just missed the chemistry (as friends) between Ryan and Micki. Ryan's humor gave a much needed levity to the situations that is really missing in the Final Season. Still though, the series overall is a really good series. If you haven't seen them before or just miss them from years ago, I recommend you go pick up Friday the 13th the Series: The Final Season today.
