Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock: The Quest for Perfection

Guitar Hero rocks again. As a metal chick, I have to say that so far, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is my favorite version yet to date, for several reasons. The basic game is still the same, but instead of Story Mode, you now have Quest Mode. It's mostly the same thing, except there's a bit more of a story to it now. Yeah, I realize that the name Quest Mode doesn't make you think that there would be more of a story now, but there is. Basically, each quest is to develop a character and learn more about them. Like Story Mode before, Quests give you a selection of songs and you need to earn enough stars on those songs to complete the goal that they set for you. Once you do, you'll get more information and a new goal. There are quite a few quests, enough to keep you busy for much longer than Story Mode did. Of course, while you're playing you will unlock new items, videos, pictures and more.
Quest Mode is cool, but it's not the reason that Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is so awesome. I believe that this is by far the best song selection yet. Not only is there plenty of metal to keep me happy, but there's a lot of other of my favorites as well, including all seven parts of Rush's "2012," Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It." As for the metal, well, I don't think you get much better than classics like Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and Black Sabbath's "Children of the Grave" as well as more recent songs such as Linkin Park's "Bleed It Out" and Megadeth's "Sudden Death," which was written for Warriors of Rock. So many more of my favorites are there as well: Anthrax, Queensryche, Nine Inch Nails, and many more.
To go along with a more rock-centric set list, there is a new guitar available as well, one that looks much more metal than before. This new design is supposed to allow you to be able to customize the body easier since all of the mechanics are located in the neck/fret. The sides are purely decorative, so they can be changed out. Personally, I really like the new design as it is. The flame shaped cut-outs allow you to see through the body of the guitar and have red on the insides of the body. The front silver flames just give you a flash of light when they reflects anything while you're rocking out.
Seeing as how Megadeth recorded "Sudden Death" just for the game, those of us at the preview event were lucky enough to get to see Dave Mustaine play that very song on the game at the preview event. I must say it was an unexpected surprise and one that really made me happy, as I've been a huge Megadeth fan for over 20 years now! So there you have it - all you metal fans and classic rock fans especially must go get Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as soon as you can! Actually, I recommend everyone who's a fan of Guitar Hero go get it as soon as you can. It's a great new addition to a wonderful series!
